Manchester United chant we’ve been hearing Home and Away for the last few seasons is the George Best song. The George Best chant, based on Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit in the Sky is dedicated to one of the best Manchester United players of all time. Follow the Spirit in the Sky chant lyrics below:

Best began his career at Manchester United, making his debut with the senior team at the age of 17 against West Bromwich Albion on 14th September 1963. He was spotted by Manchester United Scout Bob Bishop in Belfast. He informed Manchester Untied manager Matt Busby about his special discovery with a note that said:
I think I’ve found you a genius

Being one of the first celebrities in football, the chant was inspired by George Best’s alcoholic problems which led to his dead in 2005. One of the favourite George Best quotes simply explains the lifestyle he lived outside of football.
