Manchester United keen on signing top Swedish defender
Manchester United are close to signing defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica for the sum of £38m .
It appears a deal could be reached with Benfica although the latter had been reluctant to sell the centre-back after qualifying for the knock-out stages of the Champions League.
Lindelof began his career with Vasteras SK in the lower tiers of Swedish football, but signed for Benfica as a 17-year-old in December 2011. He made his debut for the Swedish under-21 team on 14 October 2014. Lindelöf received his first call up to the senior Sweden squad in March 2016 for friendlies against Turkey and Czech Republic. He debuted for the country in an away loss against Turkey (2–1) on 24 March.
