Did you know that Manchester United were founded in 1878 as NEWTON HEATH?

Manchester United were originally founded in 1878 under the name of Newton Heath L&YR by a group of workers from the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railways. They entered the league for the first time in 1892. The club name changed to Manchester United Football Club in 1902 after a donation from the managing director of Manchester Breweries saved the club from bankruptcy. Nobody would have thought at that time that the club was to become the greatest football club in the world.
